The Latest Not Much Goin On

Labor Day weekend has officially ended and I'm still at home in LA without a job, but the search
keeps truckin along. In the meantime, I was in Seattle this past weekend and Vegas the weekend before that.

Vegas was great though the craps tables could've been a bit friendlier. I did see "Love" which is the latest Cirque du Soleil show at the Mirage. The show was awesome and I highly recommend it especially if you're a Beatles fan.

Seattle was great and Luke and Gina's wedding was lovely. It was also yet another exploratory outing of Seattle. I've been there a few times before back when I was living in the Eug but this time, I had the chance to explore some more of the neighborhoods such as Queen Anne and Fremont. Of course, I also had to go to Pike's Market and the Space Needle (first time taking the elevator up to the top). It was also great seeing Mike Kokorowski (Chaminade '98 and Cal '02) the night before his wedding. Hadn't seen him in a bunch of years and everytime I went to Seattle, he was always out launching weather balloons in Antarctica or South America as part of his U-Dub PhD. So congrats to Luke and Gina and Mike and Heather on their weddings.

Well, it's been about 2 months now since I graduated and went oreGONE from Oregon and have moved back in the parentals here in suburban LA. Been hunting for jobs since then and have made very little progress in terms of interviews and interviews. Still thinkin about China but the Bay Area's tractor beam is very strong after spending a weekend there recently. Not much else going on but here are a few recent pics.

Spring Update

it's mid-june now and i've officially graduated from the oregon mba. can't believe the 2 yrs went by so fast. it really hit me during graduation that "that was it!" and it's been a solid 2 yrs with my classmates, some of whom i dont know if i'll ever see again. going through that all over again after the first time graduating from Cal. it was a short and sweet graduation ceremony and a great way to spend my last moments as a student.

the day after graduation, my parents and i took a road trip up the Oregon coast to florence, newport, tillamook, and cannon beach. very pretty and relaxing along the coast. at chowder at Mo's, asian-style crab and fresh steamed fish, tillamook cheese and ice cream, fish and chips, etc. wrapped up the weekend by taking my parents to multnomah falls and downtown portland.

also made it out to shanghai during week 8 with paul, doc howard, and randy from school. they went to negotiate with FUON at Fudan University and luckily i got to tag along. while there, i networked a bit with the NBA, Nike, Visa, Wieden+Kennedy, Zou Marketing. hopefully it'll help me get somewhere in my career. i also ate really well at some awesome chinese food places and even CPK, where terry from zou took us. also, a thank you to Lei and Andrew for taking us out to dinner and drinks on the 86th floor of the hyatt, the tallest building in pudon. what a view on a clear night!!!! i also did some great shopping by buying 16 more ties, a few nfl jerseys, and my fake callaway golf bag. also had a couple of sportcoats made. awesome!!!!!

here are some more photos of the final weeks as a grad student

So, What's New?

So, here's the latest update on what's goin on with me.

My IM career is dwindling down and we're headed to the playoffs in both softball and dodgeball. I'm thinking we might have a shot at the title in dodgeball. It should be fun. Unfortunately, my pulled (probably torn) hamstring is kind of hindering me but I'm doing my best to get through it. Yes this is a photo of the internal bleeding on the back of my leg.

3 weeks ago, Conor, Randy, Petros, Joanne, and Brina came up from LA and the Bay Area to visit. It was a great weekend hanging out with all of them and showing them how I live here in Eugene. I must say it was the best weekend I've had here in the Eug in my 2 yrs. There's nothing like hanging out with old friends.

Last weekend, Chris and Jen threw a festive party in honor of the Kentucky Derby. Although my horse didn't win me the money, it was a great time with good friends and great food.

This past Friday, my friend Jeanie and I hiked around Multnomah Falls at the Columbia River Gorge outside of Portland. Since my days are counting down, I want to make the most of my time here in Oregon since I dont know how long I'll be here. It was a gorgeous day and a breathtaking sight.

Well, that's pretty much it for now. 4 weeks left and then I'm really not sure yet. I am headed to Shanghai next week with a few of my professors and I'll hopefully get a chance to network a bit and get some leads on jobs.

Better late than never

As the Doctor often says, I should update my blog more often. Thus, here's the latest update!

2 weeks have now gone by in my last term of b-school here at Oregon and I'm all set to get out of Eugene. However, I'm glad Petros, the Dr., and the Boss are planning a trip up here to see how I live these days. I'm pretty much slacking in my 3 classes and focused on looking for a job and just enjoying the school atmosphere one last time.

So, here's a little photo-update from my spring break:

saw my cousin's 3 month old hapa son for the first time. shown here representing the golden bears

watched UCLA triumph in the sweet 16 and elite 8 in oakland

bought Makiko a Cal sweatshirt as a farewell present as she left SFO for japan

Once I got back to the Pacific Northwest, I was bored the first weekend so I decided to head up to Seattle to watch a Mariners game for the first time at Safeco.

Tardy on the Updates

After much pressure from one of the Horsemen, I have finally gotten around to updating my blog.

It's the 9th week of classes in the winter term and I'm just wrapping up a couple of projects and papers for class before heading to LA for spring break (can't wait to get out of the Eug and back to a big city). I'm also thinking of heading up to the Bay Area for the West Regional Sweet 16 in Oakland. March Madness baby!!!!!!

So, here's a little update from recent weeks

On the weekend of Feb. 24th, I headed up to Seattle to get away from the smalltown-ness of The Eug and enjoy the benefits of a big city. Also, Cal was playing Washington that weekend. Although Cal lost and I ended up scalping a ticket for $40, it was great being there and rooting on the Bears. Seattle was great cuz I was able to eat some great food (clam chowder at Pike's Market, Ezell's fried chicken, a burger at Dick's Drive-thru, great milk tea, Specialty's cookie, etc) that I can't get here in The Eug. I also hit up Ikea and Ranch 99 for some furniture and groceries, respectively.

This past weekend was the annual MBA getaway to SunRiver. I ended up only going from Friday night to Saturday afternoon. Although I didn't have a chance to so skiing/boarding, sledding, or snow-shoeing, it was nice to get out there and see some snow. I had to come back early since Mae was in town from Berkeley to judge the Wushu Collegiate Championships. Mae even brought me a stuffed chicken pizza from Zachary's and a scone and english muffins from Cheeseboard/Arizmendi. Thanks Mae!

A Great Weekend for the Bears

Just wanted to let my fellow Golden Bears know that I was representing loud and proud and in full force this past weekend as the Cal basketball team came up to Oregon and swept OSU and Oregon. I'm happy to say that I made it to both games. OSU was a cakewalk but the Oregon game proved to be too close for comfort. For the Oregon game, I sat in the first row of the student section in the corner near the Cal bench and next to the Cal VIP section. I was pretty vocal the whole game and the Taiwanese kids sitting a few rows behind me pelted me with foam balls and rolled up hot dog wrappers at the end of the game. No big deal as I was just happy Cal came away with the victory. Next is Stanford on Thursday for 2nd place in the Pac 10.

Other than that, I'm currently in midterms and feeling really exhausted and a bit burned out. I think leaving campus at 5 pm everyday has taken its toll on me a bit.

The coziness of small town (to me) Eugene has gotten to me and I'm itchin to get out of here for a weekend but it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon. Luckily, it's stopped raining this week (keeping the fingers crossed).
